i can't write an explanation about this piece, was one of my projects at uni. as an assignment .. i couldn't make a presentation or explanation about the image there either ..
though the title briefly explains the fiction of the image i guess ..
There is such an ambience to this piece - an interuption of some sort of tranquility in the darkness by this sudden light, embraced as a saviour, perhaps. It draws the audience in, gives them something to consider about the composition. Your expression, its intimacy and sense of gravitational reality lends a feeling of humanity, a vulnerability exposed to the world.
Eventually, Tim, I'm going to run out of words for your work. Theres only so much you can say without tarnishing a photograph's elusive simplicity.
The lighting, and the way you are holding it to you, makes me think that is it something (or even a symbol for something) that is extremely precious to you and you are afraid to lose.
It seems almost cold and clinical at first, but then your expression is so tender and almost.. intimate. I don't know.
I love the lighting!! That's so awesome! It's like you're working with magic I also really like how you're sitting . . . it makes me wonder what's going through your head.
